About the new Ashaway Ultranick squash string
Ashaway have launched their new UltraNick squash string.
Ashaway strings have an excellent reputation, evidenced by the fact that they are used by some of the world’s top squash and badminton players including David Palmer, Nick Matthew, Lee Beechill, Ong Beng Hee, Gail Emms and Jo Goode.
The latest addition to Ashaway’s squash string range is a fine, powerful, lightweight and durable string, just like the highly popular PowerNick, but it also offers players a softer feel.
Ashaway say that this is possible due to recent advances that have produced finer Zyex filaments in the string core. According to Ashaway's Steve Crandall, the company now uses these to produce new multifilament core packages with increased linear density and more cross-sectional strength. The results, he says, are thinner, stronger, lighter-weight UltraNick strings which provide softer feel, more power, and improved ball control, yet still offer the well-known Zyex playing characteristics and tension holding properties.
The UltraNick string is available as UltraNick 18 (1.15mmm) Power Green and UltraNick 17 (1.25mm) Power Blue.
