Good tennis strings are vital for the performance of a racket. In general you should look to replace your strings every few months, though, of course, this also depends on how often you use your racket. Usually, thinner tennis strings can create better feel and spin but they can also wear more quickly and need to be replaced more often.

All tennis strings – even the best and the most expensive ones – lose elasticity over time; there's nothing you can do prevent that completely, but proper care (such as keeping your racket in its bag at all times when you're not using it) may help extend the life of the tennis racket strings.
