Summary: our verdict
Fresh out of Spain... or in fact Argentina, where Royal Padel crafts all its own rackets, the 2023 Royal Padel range has a formidable reputation. As one of the original padel brands, founded in 1991, Royal Padel is a pioneer in racket technology. As lead sponsor of the American Padel Tour (APT) and equipment provider to leading pros, we always have high expectations of Royal Padel's rackets.
In all the rackets, there's a level of comfort that we think exceeds many other brands, even in the harder and more powerful models. Even though they're pro-level equipment, these rackets are surprisingly easy to get the best from, even for intermediate players. Dare we say it, they'll flatter you padel game and definitely give you a springboard to improve and refine your play.
These are high end rackets so it's worth considering taking time to read the full review to understand the differences and pick the racket that will be right for your game. They're all top quality, beautifully built and balanced rackets.
As a high standard racket for powerful, all-round game play, the Whip Hybrid 23 is a great choice. If you're strong at the back of the court as well as at the net you'll appreciate the versatility. There's a ton of power in the solid head design.
The Whip Control Poly 23 is highly manoeuvrable and delivers excpetional power for a racket with such good control. Bonus: great comfort, which could be protective if you're prone to elbow injuries, like Tennis Elbow.
Like the name says, the Whip Ultralight 23 is super-lightweight and a great all-rounder. You'll make the most of your power with its precision focus. Outstanding comfort makes this a racket you should consider if you suffer from joint pain or tennis elbow.

- Mixed poly and eva rubber core
- Fibretech reinforced for stability
- All-new sandpaper surface for great spin and grip

Player appeal:

Level
This racket is designed for competition level play but would also suit improving intermediates
Style of play
You'll get a really good blend of control and power from this racket. It has a big sweet spot to help you nail every shot consistently. Compared to the 2022 model, this racket feels even more manoeuvrable and refined.
You'll need a level of accuracy in your play to get the best from the Whip Hybrid 23, but it gives an exhilarating feeling of power when you go in for a smash. The racket has a satisfyingly solid feel in your hand and will suit powerful players who already have a great repertoire of shots, or want to develop one. We enjoyed practising our slices and spin shots with the help of the grippy snadpaper racket face.
Comparison with similar rackets
There's more comfort and focus to be had from the Whip Control Poly 23 through the strongest players may detect a slight loss of power. The Whip Ultralight 23 is highly protective and great if you're injury prone but still want to play at an advanced levelm with a little less weight in your hand.
Decision points
Advantages: A high standard racket for powerful, all-round game play. If you're strong at the back of the court as well as the net you'll appreciate the versatility. There's ton of power in the solid head design.
Disadvantages: If you dominate the court with aggressive play and prefer not to spend too much time at the back of the court, you may find this racket a little too nuanced.

Whip Control Poly 23

Racket build and features:

- Oversized teardop head
- Ultrasoft polyethylene rubber core
- Fibretech reinforcement for stability
- All-new sandpaper surface for great spin and grip

Player appeal:

Level
This is a competition level racket but we think it would also suit intermediates of any level who are looking to improve and refine their play, as well as advanced players who like a softer, lighter racket.
Style of play
Everyone had a great time using this racket. It seems to adapt magically to different styles of play. For a control balanced racket there's a spectacular amount of power. At the same time, it absorbs a lot of shock from hard hits. We've heard rave reviews from serious players who are prone to tennis elbow or joint pain - the comfort of this racket got them back to smashing hard without smashing themselves up.
It would be crazy to say that this racket works for every style and level of player... but we're almost tempted. For intermediates or even novices who are committed to padel improvment and ready to invest ina top-notch racket, the Whip Control Poly 23 will help you get better and better. It's easy to handle, with a big sweet spot, and encourages you to use the full range of shots and tactics, For advanced players, the comfort gives you a bit extra in terms of endurance in a hard match, with little compromise on power, It's almost like witchcraft!
Comparison with similar rackets
Go for the Whip Hybrid 23 if you favour power and aggression - there's still a good level of control. The Whip Ultralight 23 is highly protective and great if you're injury prone but still want to play at an advanced level, with a little less weight in your hand.
Decision points
Advantages: Excellent comfort, protective if you're prine to elbow injuries, highly manoeuvrable, delivers exceptional power for a racket with such good control.
Disadvantages: Hard to think of any! You may find this racket a little soft if you're a powerful and aggressive player who doesn't care much for refinement.

Whip Ultralight 23

Racket build and features:

- Oversized teardrop head
- Lightweight
- Ultrasoft polyethylene rubber core
- Fibretech reinforcement for stability
- All-new sandpaper surface for great spin and grip

Player appeal:

Level
It might be lightweight in grams but there's no lack of sophistication or quality. This racket delivers for advanced players and would also benefit novice to intermediate who prefer a lighter racket but want to delvelop their all-round performance.
Style of play
Our first impression on wielding this racket was manoeuvrability. It's incredibly agile and easy to handle. If you don't want too much weight weight in your hand but you play to win at a high level, this racket should be on your wish-list.
The soft core of the Ultralight makes even hard shots feel comfortable and almost effortless. If you're recovering from tennis elbow or are prone to joint injuries, this racket will get you back onto your game. It's designed for comfort, but it's also a serious competitor that Royal Padel doesn't hesitate to recommend to pro level players.
We found the precision of the racket excellent. The large teardrop head helps you place the ball perfectly every time, so you can focus your power to send the ball into exactly the spot you want at an impressive pace. Slice and top-spin come naturally to this racket, with the sandpaper texture of the face.
Comparison with similar rackets
For a touch less comfort but a little more weight and power, the Whip Control Poly 23 could be a better option. Go for the Whip Hybrid 23 if you favour power and aggression - there's still a good level of control, though the more rigid racket head set-up won't give painful elbows as much protection.
Decision points
Advantages: Like the name says, super-lightweight and a great all-rounder. Makes the most of your power with precision focus. Outstanding comfort. A great choice if you're injury-prone.
Disadvantages: Lightweight, which won't suit everyone. Not as powerful as hard rackets, if you like to dominate with aggressive play.
